Tips to Prevent Car Breakdowns During the Summer

Depending on where you live in the country, it can get quite hot out there during the summer months. Nowhere is this more evident than inside your car. In fact, some places have been known to result in interior cabin temperatures that approach a whopping 150 degrees Fahrenheit. Temperatures this high can actually injure you, not to mention the damage that it can do to the dashboard and seats in your car. Thankfully, there are some things that you can do to help cool your vehicle off just a bit during the heat of the summer.

Stay Away From Direct Sunlight

When you are going to park your car for any length of time, look around before you do. You want to find a place that has as much shade as possible. If it is going to be a few hours before you return, anticipate where the sun is going to go and make sure your car stays away from those spots.

Keep Your Dashboard Covered

The interior of your car traps heat. This is what makes it even hotter inside and it is outside. Your dash takes the brunt of that heat. You will want to use a sunshade to provide some much-needed relief from the sunlight for your dashboard. This will extend its life as well.

Cover Up Your Car

You probably take great pride in your car's appearance. One of the quickest ways for it to lose its luster is to be left out in the heat for too long. If you must keep it parked outside, a car cover is going to be best. Get one that properly fits your vehicle so that it is easy to put on and take off.

Put Away Your Personal Items

The heat can destroy your personal items as well. Electronics can be compromised and deodorant can melt. In other words, keep these out of the heat as well. You will be much happier as a result.
